Sauna steam rooms - Precut or Prefab?
As either a permanent room in your home or a modular type kit sauna steam rooms provide health and relaxation benefits like nothing else can. Thanks to a more competitive marketplace and reduced costs of manufacturing it's more realistic for families to install sauna rooms in their home. Depending on if you're considering new construction or remodeling there are a couple of different alternatives.
Modular and Prefab Sauna Steam Rooms
A modular sauna is almost a complete prebuilt unit that comes from the manufacturer. These steam rooms are generally placed in another room of your home, and are a completely sealed room all of their own. The benefit of purchasing a prefab room is that the walls, ceiling, and door come pre built. There is very little work for the owner to do once they have the kit at home, and can be enjoying their sauna same day it arrives.
Most Modular Steam saunas can be relocated should you move or want to change the location in your home where the sauna located.
Pre cut Sauna steam rooms
Unlike a modular kit a pre cut room is generally an actual room in your home. This is more common with new construction, but can also be accomplished when remodeling. The sauna room is first framed out and insulated. The exact measurements of the room are then taken and provided to a pre cut sauna room manufacturer. They then pre cut the entire sauna kit for you and ship it out. The room includes pre cut boards for the interior walls and ceiling, door, floor, and all accessories. This is the best way to go about having a full blown sauna room in your home.
The down side to this type of steam room kit is the labor and expertise required to install it. Thankfully there are many qualified contractors available to handle the job for you. It's recommended you shop around for pricing to install a pre cut sauna room, also request references from previous clients to ensure quality of workmanship.
Pricing will favor a pre cut sauna room. Modular steam sauna rooms require more material, and more labor at the factory level; therefore they're generally more expensive. Of course if you don't plan on living at your current home forever then they do have the added benefit of being relocated. While a permanent sauna steam room pretty much has to go with the house when it's sold.
With less material being require from the manufacturer for a pre cut steam room it's obvious that it would cost less money. How ever you need to calculate for the cost of labor or your time to install the kit and prepare the room before you purchase your sauna. Of course a steam rooms will increase the value of your home be sure to weight the costs and benefits before deciding to go this route.
