Using Sauna Suits to Lose Weight

Sauna suits, initially designed for use by professional atheletes for training have become a main stream item for weight loss as well. What exactly does a sauna suit do? Why would you want to wear one and for how long? We'll answer this questions in this article as we help you decide if a sauna suit is right for you.

The Purpose of Sauna Suits

Sauna suits were initially designed for wrestlers and boxers who are required to weigh in before competing. By wearing the sauna suit they could lose several pounds quickly and hopefully weigh in and compete in a lighter weight class then they actually were.

So what the heck does this have to do with you? Well you can use the same concept to lose weight permanently rather then just for a competition. Because the sauna suit will cause you to sweat more you will reduce your water retention as well as make your body burn more energy.

When to use a Sauna Suit

Using a sauna suit is simple, just wear it during different activities. If you're trying to lose weight then I'd suggest wearing your sauna suit during a 30-60 minute walk each day. Walking normally burns 200-500 calories depending on the intensity, but wearing the sauna suit you'll increase the energy your burn during activity.

It's important that you stay hydrated because prolonged use of a sauna suit can cause you to sweat to much. Especially during intense activity.

Should you try one? What other alternatives are there?

If you've struggled to lose weight on a diet then trying a sauna suit is an excellent alternative. People who have had trouble losing weight for years on conventional diets have been able to drop 10, 20, even 30 lbs with basic cardiovascular exercise while wearing the suit.

You do need to be careful that you don't over exert yourself, and push to hard. Taking it slow at first is ideal and working up to longer durations using the suit is important. Also as already mentioned be sure to drink lots of water. While sweating a lot will help you lose weight and toxins from your body it can also cause more harm then help if you don't keep drinking water during activity.
