Propane Sauna Heater For The Savvy Sauna Owner
Propane sauna heaters are the ideal choice for most commercial uses, and for the savvy home sauna owner. While the upfront investment might be higher for a propane heater, they more then pay for themselves in both home and commercial applications with energy savings. While some are nervous about installing gas sauna heaters in their homes, it is comparable to using a gas stove. The equipment is certified, and constructed properly to handle a propane line and last for years to come.
Propane similar to other gas heaters such as natural gas provide superb control of the amount of heat, generally the will be exhausted via the sauna wall. Most gas sauna heaters will be double or even triple walled with a stainless steel exterior to ensure there is never any corrosion. It's a key point that propane heaters must always be in good condition as there can be dangers associated with a malfunctioning piece of equipment that is connected to a propane line.
Commercial Propane Sauna Heaters
The commercial heaters that are available have a very large rock capacity. This enables more rocks to be kept at temperature for a longer period of time allowing sauna users to produce as much or as little steam as they prefer. A normal timer is 60 minutes on a gas heater, giving more then adequate time to heat the rocks, and keep them warm for some time. Keeping in mind that these are generally commercial units we're speaking of, for a sauna that is almost always occupied.
Residential Propane Sauna Heaters
For home sauna use a propane sauna heater still makes sense. Just for the sheer savings in energy bills to heat up the sauna room for each use. Propane provides an almost instant heat that is so easily regulated. Of course there are downfalls to using this type of sauna heater. For those looking for the true Finnish sauna experience, it's very difficult to achieve without using a wood sauna heater. While the gas does provide a much cleaner experience with no clean up there will always be some that prefer the authenticity of a wood heater.
For commercial applications Vico Products makes an excellent propane sauna heater. They're designed to be used with rooms that have little to no ventilation. They're approved for use by the International Conference of Building Officials, and take advantage of stainless steel construction as mentioned previously to resist high temperatures and moisture. Of course for home use you can get away with a lesser heater, but you'll find most propane sauna heaters are at the higher end of the spectrum cost wise. |
