Modular sauna rooms: 3 types to choose from

There are three types of modular sauna rooms available: infrared saunas, steam saunas, and dry saunas. While an infrared sauna room doesn't produce steam there are different sauna heaters used for a dry sauna versus an infrared one. For those that don't fully understand the term modular sauna room here's a brief overview:

Modular Saunas
A modular sauna also known as a prefabricated sauna room is a kit that comes with pre-built walls and ceiling. The purchaser is only required to assemble these walls to use the sauna. The alternatives are a prebuilt sauna, which is quite expensive to ship and prone to damage during transport, or a precut kit.

A precut sauna comes in a few more pieces then a modular sauna. While all the pieces come with the kit none are assembled leaving a lot more work for you to do once you get it home. For those that enjoy building and assembling this might be a dream come true, how ever for the rest of us a prefabricated room is the best option.

The most popular of sauna rooms today is an infrared sauna. Why? Simply put they offer huge health benefits, require less electricity, and heat up faster (actually they technically don't heat up at all). Many steam and dry sauna rooms require direct wiring into your homes electrical system. They draw a fair bit of electricity and can add quite a bit to your monthly utilities bill.

An infrared rooms often plug directly into a 110 volt wall plug, and use far less electricity. Most owners see less then a ten dollar per month increase with regular usage. The fact that it can be plugged in almost anywhere means infrared modular sauna rooms can be placed almost anywhere in your home.

Infrared sauna heaters heat your body but not the air around it. So there is less waiting for the sauna to reach operating temperature for you to enjoy it. Turn it on and several minutes later hop in for a relaxing detoxifying sauna experience.

Of course there are those that still enjoy a steam room sauna. Prefabricated rooms that use a steam sauna heater are just as readily available as those using infrared technology. How ever because the sauna heater must heat sauna rocks to a adequate heat to create steam from water poured over them it can require a lot more electricity.

If purchasing a modular sauna that uses a steam heater be sure the construction uses proper seals at all points. Steam that escapes from your sauna can cause damage to other parts of your home.

Prefabricated rooms are the ideal way to purchase and assemble a sauna in your home. Allowing the manufacturer to handle the dirty work, and you can assemble your sauna in as little as thirty minutes when it arrives. Modular sauna rooms are often much easier to take apart then a precut kit for relocation purposes. Making them an ideal purchase if you don't plan on leaving the sauna as a permanent fixture in your home.
