No question Infrared sauna rooms in homes are becoming more popular every year. Thanks primarily to increased health awareness of infrared sauna benefits, and reduced costs for manufacturing you can purchase a pre-cut, or modular sauna room at a very reasonable price.
Infrared sauna rooms are available for one to ten people, and vary from units that are permanent to those that can dis assembled and moved to a new location in your home or to a new location should you move.

There are two types of infrared sauna rooms you’ll want to consider before purchasing. Sauna rooms come in pre-cut and modular kits. Each sauna room kit leaves you with the same end result but there are cost and labor requirement differences.
Precut Sauna Rooms
If you consider yourself to be a “handy” person and enjoy building things then a precut kit might be right for you. A precut infrared sauna comes with all the required pieces to build your sauna room at home. All wood is precut at the factory prior to shipping it to you.
Some precut infrared saunas can be taken apart after they’re assembled to be relocated or moved but not all. You should check this prior to purchasing if this is important to you. The cost of a Precut sauna room will vary with size, and generally shipping for this type of room is less expensive then a modular room, you’ll find out why in just a moment.
Modular or Prefab Sauna Rooms
Similar to a precut room and infrared sauna rooms that come as a modular kit are not completely assembled. How ever the walls are prebuilt saving you time in assembly, and are often easier to take apart should the sauna need to be relocated.
Materials used in both types of rooms are usually identical if you’re comparing equivalent units (i.e. Cedar walls, ceramic sauna heaters etc.). The obvious advantage of a modular sauna is it’s easier to assemble (easier for a less technical person to build), and easier to dis-assemble. A point that I should mention is that when the factory pre builds the walls and ceiling for your sauna the chances are they will do a better job then you could on your own. Since the construction, and materials used in construction are so important for an infrared sauna it’s safe to say that the quality will be higher in a prefab room.
A down side to a modular unit is it can be more expensive to ship as the packaging is larger, but the weight for equivalent sized saunas should be the same.
If you haven’t guessed it yet our vote is for a prefabricated infrared sauna room. The labor required for assembly is less, and the intricate stages of assembly are handled by the manufacturer. Ensuring seals are tight and proper materials are used.
