Do it yourself sauna kit for the home Handyman
More and more people are discovering the health advantages of having a home sauna. Whether it's from the feeling they get when they relax at the spa or their doctor has suggested it might be a good idea more people are shopping for home sauna kits then ever before. For those of us with a handy side a do it yourself sauna kit is an inexpensive option to installing a sauna kit in your home.
There are a couple of choices when selecting a do it yourself sauna kit, those choices are known as precut or prefab kits. Both are delivered to you ready to go, how ever one requires more work then the other out of the box. If you're willing to put the time and effort in for a do it yourself kit, chances are an extra few hours aren't going to phase you one way or the other, how ever there's dollar difference as well.
Sauna kits are generally shipped to your door if they're not bought locally at a sauna shop. The downfall is that very few of us have a place close buy that retails sauna kits, meaning the rest of us have to find another means either via catalog, phone order, or online to purchase one. While where we purchase our do it yourself sauna kit isn't the most important thing, knowing what you're getting is.
Both types of home sauna kits are available in a variety of options, with electric, or infrared heaters, different types of wood, and a variety of layout options. Having an idea what you're looking for ahead of time is important since with a do it yourself kit you won't always be able to see images of the finished product. So then which type of sauna kit is best for you.
A precut kit is exactly that, it's all precut and ready to be assembled. Home sauna kits are generally stand alone units meaning there isn't anything you need to do to your home, other then have the space available to put it. So a precut kit comes with all the required wood, hardware etc. to assemble the walls and ceilings and then piece the sauna together. The advantage of this type of sauna kit is it's smaller in size meaning less space to ship, saving you money. Not to mention, since there is less labor associated with the kit from the manufacturer it is normally less expensive overall.
A prefab do it yourself sauna kit already has the walls and ceiling assembled when it arrives at your door. So there is far less work required to have an operating sauna, but as you can imagine the size of the walls is quite a bit larger then just shipping the equipment to assemble the walls. This can mean more shipping costs. The kit itself is usually more expensive as well since you're paying for the manufacturer to assemble the walls and ceiling rather then you doing it yourself.
So there you have it, it's a cost benefit analysis, forgo some time but save a few bucks, or spend less time assembling your do it yourself home sauna kit, and spend a bit more. The decision shouldn't be that difficult for you to make. What's important is that you purchase the kit that's right for you, with the dimensions, heater and equipment you want in a home sauna. Then it's all relaxation from there out. |
